Osteopathy
Osteopathy
Your body is designed to move — freely, fluidly, and without pain.
But when one part of the body is restricted, the rest adapts. Over time, this compensation can lead to stiffness, pain, or dysfunction that feels “mysterious” or unconnected to where the problem started.
Osteopathy looks at your body as a whole — not just your symptoms.
Through gentle manual techniques, your osteopathic practitioner works to release restrictions, improve circulation, and restore harmony between your body’s structure and function. This whole-body approach allows for lasting change that supports your natural ability to heal.
Osteopathic treatment may help with:
Neck, shoulder, or low back pain
Headaches and jaw tension
Digestive discomfort or bloating
Postpartum recovery and pelvic pain
Postural strain from pregnancy or desk work
Sports or repetitive strain injuries
TMJ (jaw) dysfunction
Chronic pain or fatigue
Stress-related tension throughout the body
Osteopathy for Babies
Even babies can experience tension and strain — from the pressures of birth, tongue ties, or feeding difficulties.
Osteopathy can support infants experiencing symptoms such as:
Colic or excessive crying
Reflux or feeding challenges
Constipation
Difficulty turning their head to one side
Disrupted sleep patterns
Using incredibly gentle, non-invasive techniques, your osteopathic practitioner works to ease areas of tightness, support nervous system regulation, and help your baby feel more comfortable in their little body. Many parents notice improved feeding, calmer digestion, and better sleep following treatment.
The process:
1- Initial Assessment
During your initial 60-minute appointment, you and your therapist will spend some time talking and discussing your current and previous life events. Your therapist will ask questions related to your pregnancy and delivery, menstruation, sexual intercourse, diet, sleeping habits and premedical history to get a bigger picture on the root cause of your symptoms. Your physical assessment will involve both an external (movement) and internal pelvic floor examination. This is not absolutely necessary but it does give the therapist a better picture of how your pelvic floor muscles and organs are presenting. Internal examinations also help you to learn and understand your exercises to the best of your ability.
2- Follow-up Treatments
Follow-up treatments are approximately 30-mins in length (45- and 60-minutes also available) and gives you and your therapist the opportunity to discuss progress and treatment. Treatment involves a combination of hands-on manual therapy, exercise prescription and education. These follow-up treatments are essential to ensure progression or modification of your treatment plan to further you towards your goals.
3- Discharge
This is both an exciting and sad day for our therapists - it is the day when you and your therapist agree that you have reached your goals and no longer require active treatment. No concerns - your therapist will give you adequate education on how to continue managing your health to avoid return of symptoms. Should your symptoms return, a new issue arrises or you simply want to check in for maintenance treatments, we are always happy to see you again!
- STEP ONE
1- Initial Assessment
Your initial 60-minute appointment begins with a thorough discussion of your health history, daily habits, and current symptoms to uncover contributing factors. Your osteopath will assess how your body moves — from head to toe — to understand where restrictions or imbalances exist. Treatment often begins during this first session using a range of gentle techniques designed to release tension and improve mobility.
- STEP TWO
2- Follow-up Treatments
Follow-up sessions (typically 30–45 minutes) focus on refining your treatment plan and building on progress made in previous visits. Your osteopath will continue using individualized techniques such as soft tissue work, joint mobilization, and craniosacral therapy to help your body restore balance and function naturally. Osteopathy can be a powerful complement to other care, supporting your overall well-being — and your baby’s — by helping both of you move, feel, and live better.
