Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy

Women's health should be celebrated, not hidden.

Leaking, painful periods and constipation are common — but they aren't something you have to live with. Pelvic floor physiotherapy treats the root cause through gentle internal and external assessment and care.

Meet your pelvic floor

A small group of muscles with five big jobs.

When one of these functions isn't working well, you feel it — in your bladder, your bowels, your back or your sex life. Understanding them is the first step.

01
Support

A hammock that holds your bladder, uterus and rectum against downward pressure.

02
Sphincteric

Opens and closes the urethra and rectum, so urine, gas and stool are released when you choose.

03
Stability

Part of your inner core, working with your diaphragm, deep abdominals and low back.

04
Sexual

Plays a role in comfortable intercourse and in achieving orgasm.

05
Sump-pump

Helps circulate blood back up toward the heart.

The process

Unhurried care, from first visit to last.

Every visit is one-on-one, in a private room, at a pace that feels right for you.

1

Initial assessment

60 minutes

We start by listening — your pregnancies and births, periods, sex, diet, sleep and health history — to understand the bigger picture. Your physical assessment includes an external movement exam and, if you're comfortable, an internal pelvic floor exam to see exactly how your muscles and organs are working.

2

Follow-up treatments

30, 45 or 60 minutes

Each visit combines hands-on manual therapy, exercise prescription and education, and we adjust your plan as you progress toward your goals.

3

Discharge

When you're ready

The day you've reached your goals. You'll leave with the knowledge to keep symptoms from returning — and we're always here if you need a check-in.

Before your first visit

Good questions, honest answers.

Do I need a referral?

No. You can book directly with any of our pelvic floor physiotherapists. Some extended health plans ask for a doctor's note for reimbursement — check your plan.

What if I don't want an internal exam?

An internal exam gives the clearest picture, but it's always your choice. Our physiotherapists can assess and treat externally too.

I'm on my period — should I reschedule?

Not at all. Your period doesn't affect assessment or treatment. It's completely up to your comfort level.

What should I wear?

Something comfortable you can move in. Fill out your intake forms ahead of time so we can spend your appointment on you.

Is it covered by insurance?

Physiotherapy is covered by most extended health plans, and we direct bill to all major insurers.
