Naturopathic Medicine
Naturopathic Medicine
Naturopathic medicine is a form of primary health care that blends modern scientific & medical knowledge with natural alternatives to healing. NDs provides individualized, evidence-based health care and utilizes lab work and diagnostic testing to identify the root cause of symptoms and health concerns. Treatment plans for optimal wellness may include a combination of modalities including supplements, botanical medicine, acupuncture, and nutrition & lifestyle counselling.
Principles of Naturopathic Medicine
-
Identify and Treat the Causes
Naturopathic medicine aims to identify the root causes of concerns and conditions and treat accordingly, rather than covering up concerns or creating “bandaid” solutions
-
Treat the Whole Person
Symptoms rarely occur in isolation, and you deserve to have all of your concerns listened to by one health care provider
-
Prevention
Naturopathic Medicine focuses on preventing illness and promoting wellness in addition to supporting patients with symptomatic relief
Naturopathic Medicine can be beneficial in treating a variety of concerns including:
Fertility challenges
PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome)

The process:
1- Initial Assessment
During your initial 75 minute appointment, you and your naturopathic doctor will discuss your health concerns and goals, take a deep dive into your health history while reviewing current medications, supplements and lifestyle factors. Your assessment may include physical exams, and your ND will likely recommend lab work or functional medicine testing to further investigate your health concerns. You leave feeling heard and supported, with initial treatment suggestions and instruction on next steps. Before your next appointment, you will go for any necessary testing, and your treatment plan will be constructed behind the scenes.
2- Review of Lab Results & Comprehensive Treatment Plan
In this 60 minute follow-up appointment,1-2 weeks after your initial assessment, you will review any test results in depth, and your individualized treatment plan will be presented to you with detailed explanations of all treatment suggestions. Your evidence-informed treatment plan may include a combination of supplements, botanical medicine, nutrition and movement suggestions, acupuncture, mindfulness and referrals to other complementary health care providers. You have the opportunity to strategize and ensure you are leaving the appointment feeling prepared and supported to achieve your wellness goals.
3- Follow ups
Future follow ups can range from 15-60 minutes, and occur as necessary, decided by you and your ND based on your health goals. They are used to adjust treatment plans, monitor progression and improvements through measurable labs and symptoms, and address any new health and wellness concerns that arise. You now have a healthcare provider on your team to support you during all seasons of life.
